How we work with carriers and TPAs
- Direct billing. We invoice the carrier, adjuster or third-party administrator directly. The displaced household does not need to front the cost and get reimbursed.
- Business entity, W-9 and ACH. Held by a registered entity with a W-9 and ACH details on file, ready to send with the first invoice.
- Flexible end dates. Claims do not run on a fixed schedule. We can extend month to month when repairs take longer than planned.
- Pets welcome. Displaced families rarely want to board a dog on top of everything else. There is a fenced yard area.
- Fast response. Placements are usually urgent. We answer inquiries quickly rather than in a few days.

Common questions
Do you provide temporary housing for insurance claims in the Columbia River Gorge?
Yes. River Time Retreat is a furnished two-bedroom house in Carson, Washington available for Additional Living Expense placements while a policyholder's home is repaired or rebuilt. We work with adjusters, ALE coordinators and third-party housing administrators, and we bill the carrier directly.
What is ALE or Loss of Use housing?
Additional Living Expense, sometimes called Loss of Use, is the part of a homeowner's policy that pays for somewhere to live when a covered loss such as fire, water or storm damage makes a home uninhabitable. The carrier pays for temporary housing while repairs are completed, so the displaced household is not paying out of pocket.
Can you bill an insurance carrier or housing vendor directly?
Yes. The property is held by a Washington limited liability company, and we invoice the carrier, adjuster or third-party administrator directly rather than asking the displaced household to pay and seek reimbursement. A W-9 and ACH details go out the same day you ask, and invoicing is a flat monthly amount with no variable utility charges to reconcile.
How quickly can a displaced household move in?
The cabin is kept move-in ready. It is fully furnished with kitchenware, linens and towels already in place, all utilities are on, and check-in is self-service, so a household can arrive the same day availability is confirmed rather than waiting on a turnover.
Do you accept pets for insurance placements?
Yes, dogs are welcome and there is a fenced yard area. Pets are one of the most common reasons a displaced family cannot be placed in a hotel, and we would rather a household keep their dog than board it for the length of a claim.
What happens if repairs take longer than expected?
Stays continue month to month. Claims rarely run on the schedule anyone predicted, so extensions are expected rather than treated as an exception, and the rate does not change because a stay runs long.
How close is Carson to White Salmon, Bingen and Lyle?
Underwood is about 15 minutes, Stevenson about 12 minutes, Bingen and White Salmon about 25 minutes, Hood River about 30 minutes, and Lyle about 35 minutes. Most displaced households need to stay near their contractor, their job and their children's school, so proximity to the loss address usually matters more than anything else.
How large is the property and how many people can it hold?
616 square feet, two bedrooms with queen beds, one full bathroom, with an occupancy limit of four. We state the size plainly so a coordinator can match it against a household without wasting a placement call.
